Everyone is welcome to join usThe Walk: This is a lovely circular walk of about 5 miles starting from Summerbridge and following a footpath into Old Spring Wood. It begins with a steady climb at a gentle pace, after which there is very little more ‘up’. The country side then opens up with delightful views all the way until we finally descend to the River Nidd. There is then a short section on a narrow path that follows the river where care must be taken, before we join a track returning towards Dacre Banks.
Meeting Time and Place: Meet at 10.00 am for a 10:15 am start at public car park opposite the Royal Oak in Dacre Banks https://maps.app.goo.gl/UvA2yZAqd1FN1BTD7
If you need, or can offer, a lift on a petrol-sharing basis please let Pam Harris know and she will try to match people up. Pam can accommodate two passengers arriving at Ilkley station at 9.02 on the 8.33 train from Leeds.
Food & drink: You may like to bring a drink and a snack for a stop on the way. If you would like to join us for a meal at the end of the walk please let Pam know by 10th September at latest and she will book a table at the Station Inn in the nearby village of Birstwith - https://www.station-hotel.net/menu/currentmenu/. The food here is very good and is reasonably priced.
Clothing: The terrain may be muddy and uneven in parts so appropriate footwear will be needed. Given the unpredictable weather, please bring/wear suitable clothing/layers.
Please let Pam Harris know by close on 10th September at the latest if you will be joining the walk
