About this Event
A MINIMUM OF 2 GUESTS IS REQUIRED TO RESERVE OUR BOAT CAPTAIN with a max 10 guests. Tours will fill up fast!
After meeting at the Historical Trust’s museum on Raadet’s Gade you will be picked up by boat on the waterfront of Charlotte Amalie Harbor and taken on a short boat ride to Hassel Island, located at the western edge of the harbor.
Once a peninsula of Saint Thomas named “Orkenhullet” this historic 135-acre property is maintained by the National Park Service and the St. Thomas Historical Trust.
As a result of our 2017 hurricane damage, complete tours are not currently available. We do offer the ONLY tour of Hassel Island in the USVI. With our trained historical guides, you will visit 3 major sites which reflect the early Danish and British colonial history, the Garrison House, Prince Frederick’s Battery at sea level and Cowell’s Battery and Signal Station, the last sited at 267’, the highest point on Hassel Island.
Hiking trails are a moderate 3 on a scale of 5. Good walking shoes are a must; bring plenty of water and sunscreen. Tour lasts approximately 2 and a half to 3 hours.
