Explore tool care, cool-season crops, and more at the Harvesting Fall Vegetables workshop with the Penn State Master Gardeners of Cumberland County on Saturday, September 13, 9:30am-12:00pm, at the Penn State Extension office located at 310 Allen Road, Carlisle, PA 17013.Begin the day with an introduction to tool maintenance before delving into the best practices for growing, harvesting, storing, and savoring hearty cool-season crops such as squash, kale, pumpkins, and root vegetables. Enjoy a guided tour of the Allen Road vegetable gardens and composting demonstration area, then put your creativity to work by crafting your own gourd birdhouse to take home. All supplies are provided.
