Led by Rev Lisa Quarmby, we warmly invite you to share our Harvest Festival celebrations with us.What happens?
• The service lasts around an hour, during which we will sing hymns and songs and listen to readings from the bible and a talk from our preacher – see https://thackleymethodist.blogspot.com/p/sunday-worshp.html for more details.
• Our uniformed organisations parade their flags and are supported by their parents and friends.
• After the service, we serve tea, coffee and biscuits.
Our hopes/expectations
• During the service we collect food donations for Bradford North Food Bank. Food banks work with non-perishable food items (tinned and dried goods), which do not spoil. All items should be unopened, in date and in good condition. They also accept toiletries and hygiene products, helping people in crisis to maintain dignity. Last year they provided 6,940 three-day emergency food supplies to adults and children in our community. Please make a harvest donation if you are able:
Top 10 items needed
- Long life UHT milk
- Long life juice
- Tinned meat
- Instant mash
- Tinned fruit
- Tinned soup
- Coffee
- Sugar
- Tinned tomatoes
- Custard
Donations of shopping bags are also much needed!
• In the run up to Harvest we collect loose change for WaterAid. During the service we try to make as much noise as we can by throwing all our small change into a large pan – our WaterAid clatter! This is a good opportunity to round-up all the small change lurking around the house to bring with you: it isn’t doing any good down your sofa or behind a cupboard, but when added together with everyone else’s small change it can really make a difference to those in need!
