We’ve added a special audition and interview day for those interested in joining HART behind the scenes or in ensemble roles. Whether you’re passionate about stage management, costumes, lighting, sound, scenic painting, or being a backstage hand, this is your opportunity to get involved. Who should show up:
People who are not quite ready for the Main Season Auditions and are interested in being in a small ensemble role. If you’ve always wanted to audition for a show but don’t know the first thing about auditioning, this is the date for you! We will have group singing auditions, a very simple movement call, and opportunities to read some short lines. *You do not need to attend this audition if you attend the main stage auditions.
Tech people! Anyone interested in Costuming, Hair and Makeup, Lighting Design, Lighting Board Op, Sound Board Op, Spotlight Op, Projection Operations, Stage Management, ASM, Assistant Directing, Carpentry, Scenic Painting, Backstage Hand, Quick Change Assistant, Set Design, and anything else we missed!
People who want to be involved in a show at HART but don’t know where to begin!
What to Prepare:
If you are coming for a tech interview and have a portfolio or any pictures or examples of your work, please bring them. This is not required to attend but could definitely help your chances.
If auditioning for an ensemble role, please just wear comfortable shoes (or bring a change of shoes) and be ready to have a good time!
What will it be?
Just like our Main Season Auditions, the first thing you will do will be to check in at the Main Stage Lobby (we will have signs). There you will fill out an audition or tech form.
You will then have an opportunity to chat with Candice, HART’s Artistic Director, as well as directors for the Main Stage Season.
If auditioning, we will have a group audition where you will learn some group music, learn some very simple movement, and read out a few short lines.
If interested in tech and backstage, we will see people one at a time to chat about your experience, interests, and availability.
