HARRY POTTER AND THE PHILOSOPHER'S STONE (PG)
Director: Chris Columbus | Writers: J K Rowling, Steve Kloves
Cast: Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, Emma Watson, Richard Harris
Adventure • Family • Fantasy | 2001 | 2h 32m
In the first film of the series, Harry Potter is stuck with his abusive aunt and uncle until he is accepted into the magical wizarding school of Hogwarts. There he meets Hermione and Ron, who become close friends as he discovers his fateful connection to the evil Voldermort.
J K Rowling’s book series was a worldwide sensation and was already four books in when this film adaptation was released in 2001. No expense was spared and the elaborate sets and special effects are still dazzling today, as is John Williams’ unforgettable score. The film made household names of its perfectly cast child leads Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson and the supporting cast is a Who’s Who of British and Irish luvvies, many of whom have since left us: Richard Harris, Alan Rickman, John Hurt and, in the beloved role of Hagrid, Robbie Coltrane. Here they all are, vivid and immortalised, in this inventive, evocative and strikingly British fantasy world that has enchanted generation after generation for thirty years now.
Dressing up is optional but absolutely welcomed!
Gates open from 8.00 pm to allow you plenty of time to pick a perfect place to sit, grab a drink and have some food before the film.
Film starts 8.45 pm (depending on levels of light).
