Ever wondered what it must have been like to experience the art of the Harlem Renaissance in person, to walk in off the street and hear the words of Langston Hughes or Jessie Redmon Fauset? Or to be carried away by jazz as it was being built? The Harlem Renaissance Remix series is here to inject a little class from the past into your good times. We’re turning both floors of Streetlight Guild into a speakeasy!Selected poets will be performing the works of notable Harlem Renaissance era artists accompanied by live jazz, along with drinks and light refreshments. Period dress encouraged but not required! SLG always wants you as you are (but dressing up is fun).
