About this Event

This walking tour of the Associated Hardwoods sawmill in Gaffney will begin with their extensive log yard, where the sprinkling system, log scaling and wood procurement process will be discussed. The group will move through the sawmill and see the horizontal band saw, the resaw, the edger and the green chain.

The tour will then look at the stacking and packaging of lumber to be shipped to Associated Hardwoods Granite Falls, NC concentration yard where the lumber is regraded. The tour will finish with seeing how the wood chips and sawdust are separated and conveyed to the trailers as by-products to sell.

This tour has been approved for 2.0 hours of Category 1 CFE credits.
