Miles Nielsen
Based in Rockford, IL, Miles Nielsen has spent nearly a decade enthralling audiences with his music, which is deeply influenced by Western-influenced rock and classic ‘60s soul. Drawing inspiration from diverse influences such as Otis Redding’s timeless soul and Jellyfish’s cult power pop, Nielsen crafts music that feels both nostalgic and fresh. He released his debut solo album in 2009 and followed up with Miles Nielsen Presents the Rusted Hearts in 2012. In 2016, he released Heavy Metal, and by 2017, Nielsen and his band, The Rusted Hearts, were touring extensively across Europe, Mexico, and the United States. In addition to their tours, they hosted a fan fest in Wisconsin Dells called the Stampede, cementing their close connection with fans. Nielsen’s music blends introspective lyrics with rich melodies, offering a powerful and soulful performance that resonates with audiences.
Kelly Steward
Kelly Steward, also hailing from Rockford, IL, is a Midwestern singer-songwriter known for her haunting indie-flavored, neo-traditional country sound. After spending a few years in Los Angeles, she returned to the Midwest, where she recorded her EP Long Long Road with producer and fellow musician Miles Nielsen. Steward traveled with Nielsen’s band for a few years before forming her own group, The Restless Kind, with Greg Whitson (guitar), Scott Ford (bass), and Jesse Carmona (drums). In 2012, she released the intimate EP Out From Within, followed by her full-length album Tales and Tributes of the Deserving and Not So in 2019, which was produced with Greg Whitson. The album evokes the spirit of mid-70s female singer-songwriters like Emmylou Harris, Joan Baez, and Linda Ronstadt, blending a Laurel Canyon vibe with Midwest Americana. Steward’s music is both introspective and evocative, offering listeners a journey through heartfelt emotions and stories.
Dan Hubbard
The evening will be hosted by Dan Hubbard, an Illinois-based singer-songwriter with over 15 years in the industry. With seven studio albums to his name, Hubbard is known for his beautiful, powerful, and seemingly effortless music. His most recent release, Fall in Love Again (Quarantine Lullabies), reflects his return to his recording roots during the pandemic, a time of rediscovery for his passion for songwriting and storytelling.
