This two-day intensive professional development training heightens your awareness of trauma, and provides you with the tools to combine your unique teaching methods with conscious, intentional, relational practices to make your studio space trauma-informed. **PLEASE NOTE: THERE WILL BE A 90 MINUTE SESSION ONLINE PRIOR TO THE IN-PERSON EVENT. THE ONLINE SECTION IS REQUIRED TO ATTEND THE IN-PERSON TRAINING.**
This workshop emphasizes:
- Easy to understand techniques and concepts
- Lots of dialog and group engagement
- Learning that is experiential/practical as well as Socratic
You will be able to:
- Seemlessly blend your own teaching techniques with new relational practices to give your students a more integrative experience, whether at the wheel or hand building
- Define trauma and understand the basic principles of being trauma-informed
- Describe the eight principles of Haptic Trauma Healing and harness all of them
- Identify ways to make your studio feel safer to all your students
- Help clients who become distressed, triggered, or emotional at the wheel
- Identify the five states of relatedness when we teach students to throw clay
- Help heal a dysregulated nervous system
