Introducing local artist Rasmus Gottschau, and his intimate artwork. Come join us for an evening of ART, conversation, wine and soul searching. WTF.
Free Entrance.....but not for your pet frog...(unless you have one).
THE ARTIST
Rasmus Gottschau, 26 years old. Born and raised in Hellerup, a bit north of Copenhagen.
Moved to Amagerbro in 2017, and started painting in April 2019. At that time I started with aquarel, which I found to be too technically difficult, so I turned to acrylic, for about a year, before getting into oil, which is now what I use to create the majority of my artwork.
My idea of a painting, is the idea of a product of self reflection and honesty.
I am not aiming for my paintings to be considered “done” or “finished”
They are as far as I have dared to take them.
I rarely work from the idea of a motive.
It, somehow, just happens.
Not in a second, but over a period of weeks or months, where layers change the painting again and again, until the suggestion of a figure evolves.
When this happens, I usually try and maintain the motive which has appeared.
I almost only paint when I am feeling angry, sorry, stupid, lost, lonely, frustrated, eager.
It is through these basic human emotions that I am hoping for the viewer to feel a connection to my paintings. Perhaps even telling a story that only the viewer sees, making the viewer the author.
Rasmus Gottschau.
