? O ?? artyście:
Niilas is the moniker of Peder Niilas Tårnesvik, electronica producer from Bergen, Norway, who received widespread acclaim for his last album “Also This Will Change”, winner of Spellemann 2020, the “Norwegian Grammys”. He has established himself as one of Norway’s most fascinating electronica producers with his innovative and detailed soundscapes. He delivers tantalizing live shows with unique visuals, as well as intricate DJ sets.
Niilas rips through the rules and foundations of electronic music with a relentless force, orchestrating his own, often highly detailed universe. His notorious live set melds and tangles elements of techno, rave, breaks, and IDM, finding unparalleled vitality and soul whenever there is space. In Niilas' world, there is room for blistering breaks and dreamlike, transcendent ambiance, two worlds sometimes crashing within moments.
Niilas has a dedication to the most captivating noises coming out from the belowground music scene in his native Norway and beyond. Notable for his widely innovative soundscapes, Niilas has provided a gateway into the formidable musical minds of the likes of Røyksopp, Lindstrøm, Carmen Villain, Biosphere, Jaga Jazzist, and Bjørn Torske.
Two albums, both self-released, ‘Also this will change’ and ‘Stone Skipping’, brought his sound in a more expressive direction, without ever breaking his uncompromising creative process. On the former, Niilas drew a link between his cultural heritage and the intricate, delicate IDM at the heart of his music. ‘Stone Skipping’, further grounded his unique sound, going even further into his dreamlike utopia. The latter is a peek into the new sounds of Norway's most thrilling producers and paves the way for his future projects.
As an artist, Niilas has appeared at Norwegian festivals such as Øya, EKKO, Træna, Vill Vill Vest, Bylarm, and Insomnia, as well as many of Norway’s forward-thinking clubs. As the tempo slows down or increases, genre splinters and the rave gets weirder, trust Norway’s foremost electronic innovator to keep things truly mesmerizing.
