As part of the Apopka Saturday Sounds series, celebrate jazz music with the world this International Jazz Day weekend! Enjoy classic, soul-stirring jazz music from HAPCO Music Foundation’s LeNard Rutledge & Friends. Join us at this free performance!
Miami vocalist LeNard Rutledge began his professional career as the featured vocalist for the famed Melton Mustafa Orchestra. As a HAPCO clinician, he teaches beginning percussion technique and proficiency and vocal technique. Performing with him: Michael Levine, Maikalo Kasha, Michael Harvey and Diron Holloway.
Bring blankets and chairs. Picnic baskets and coolers are permitted. The Apopka Amphitheater has 1360 seats with additional lawn space.
This concert is presented by HAPCO Music Foundation, the City of Apopka and Apopka Parks and Recreation as part of the Apopka Saturday Sounds series at the Apopka Amphitheater.
HAPCO Music Foundation helps disadvantaged young people use their musical, culinary and artistic talents to build their better futures. The non-profit organization has education and performance programs in Florida, Texas and Georgia. The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) officially designated April 30 as International Jazz Day in order to highlight jazz and its diplomatic role of uniting people in all corners of the globe. Each year, this international art form is recognized for promoting peace, dialogue among cultures, diversity, and respect for human rights and human dignity; eradicating discrimination; fostering gender equality; and promoting freedom of expression.

Band Notes
Drummer Michael Harvey has been a member of the Naples Philharmonic Jazz Orchestra for over a decade. Through his production company, he works on film sets, TV productions, ads and music videos. He recently toured the world with Julio Iglesias.
Jazz bassist and composer Mikailo Kasha performs and tours around the US. He is on faculty at the Stanford Jazz Workshop. He graduated from the Frost School of Music at the University of Miami in 2022 with a Master’s of Music in Jazz Performance.
Jazz pianist Mike Levine is a Miami-based player, producer and composer. He has released four CDs. 2021’s “Just Chillin” landed on SiriusXM satellite radio with two singles.
Diron Holloway, who plays saxophone, clarinet and flute, is Professor of Saxophone & Clarinet and Director of Jazz Studies at Florida Memorial University. He is an active performer, recording artist and clinician. His philosophy of music education is “Music is a language anyone can learn.” He believes music can be a great equalizer and an even greater friend.
