Third Place Books is thrilled to welcome Instagram sensations Hannah Shaw and Andrew Marttila to our Lake Forest Park store for their new book, Cats of the World, with photos and stories of cats and cat culture from thirty countries! They'll be joined in conversation by Lindy West, author of Shrill and Shit, Actually. Tickets are required in advance.
What you need to know:
All tickets come with a copy of Cats of the World. Books will be available for pickup at the event.
Tickets must be purchased through Eventbrite. Pre-order of the book will not grant you access to the event.
If you are unable to attend the event, your book will be placed on hold at our Lake Forest Park store. You may request to have your book placed on hold at our Ravenna or Seward Park location. Please allow time for transfer.
This event is co-sponsored by The NOAH Center, a nonprofit Animal Adoption Center and Spay & Neuter Clinic dedicated to stopping the euthanasia of healthy, adoptable, and treatable homeless cats and dogs through our adoption and low-cost spay/neuter programs.

Hannah Shaw, also known as Kitten Lady, is an award-winning kitten rescuer, humane educator, and unwavering animal advocate who has dedicated her life to innovating kitten care and protecting the most vulnerable felines. She is the New York Times bestselling author of Tiny But Mighty, Kitten Lady’s Big Book of Little Kittens, Kitten Lady’s CATivity Book, and the Adventures in Fosterland series. She is also the founder of Orphan Kitten Club, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization saving the lives of neonatal kittens throughout the nation. She lives in California with her husband, Andrew Marttila, their cats, and an endless rotation of foster kittens.
Andrew Marttila is a professional animal photographer specializing in cats. Over the years he’s taken millions of photos of our feline overlords, which have been used in worldwide media in both digital and print—from the cover of National Geographic to Good Morning America. He is the creator of several books including Shop Cats of New York, Cats on Catnip, and How to Take Awesome Photos of Cats. He is also a board member of Orphan Kitten Club, and has hand-raised hundreds of rescued kittens along with his wife, Hannah Shaw.
Lindy West is the co-host of the comedy podcast Text Me Back and the author of the e-mail newsletter Butt News. She has published three books: the New York Times bestselling memoir Shrill: Notes from a Loud Woman, Shit, Actually: The The Definitive, 100% Objective Guide to Modern Cinema, and the essay collection The Witches Are Coming. Lindy is a former contributing opinion writer for the New York Times and her work has appeared in This American Life, The Guardian, Cosmopolitan, GQ, Vulture, Jezebel, and others. She is the co-founder of the reproductive rights destigmatization campaign #ShoutYourAbortion. Lindy was a writer and executive producer on Shrill, the Hulu comedy adapted from her memoir.
