HANDSTAND WORKSHOP WITH JAMIE

Join me for a 2 hour workshop on how to handstand where you will learn the basic principles and techniques on how to perform this skill. We will break down this technique and work through specific drills on how to build strength,
body awareness and confidence in a progressive way.
This workshop is available for all levels of students as everyone will learn a strong foundation to work from with progressions and steps tailored to their ability. Whether you have a handstand already, or want to learn the basics, how to free stand handstand or perform other hand balancing skills please come and join us.

PROGRAM
Introduction
A discussion on the basic principles of hand balancing and balance in general focusing on alignment and
body awareness as well as a pep talk on how to create balance and build strength.
Warm Up
We’ll go through various drills to bring awareness to the body parts used in hand balancing and
progressions and techniques on how to develop this for all levels
Practice
Bringing into practice the key elements learnt through the day we will do partner and wall work to
develop the basics on hand balancing and go through progressions to develop this skill and ways to work
towards more advanced practice.
Closing
We’ll warm down with some closing postures and stretching followed by a Q&A on how to take these
elements away and develop into our own personal practice.

ABOUT JAMIE
Jamie Henderson is an Ashtanga / VinyasaYoga practitioner and teacher who is passionate about body
movement, hand balancing and health. Having left London, moving away from his competitive sports
background to focus solely on Ashtanga Yoga, Jamie has studied extensively with Iain Grysak in Bali and
Astrid Holte Østbye here in Norway. He was first introduced to Ashtanga in 2009 and has had a daily
practice since 2014. He also maintains a regular meditation and pranayama practice, is passionate about
hand balancing and has had a personal study of various martial arts and movement practices, anatomy,
body mechanics and trigger point therapy for over a decade.
Along side his Yoga classes, Jamie offers workshops and private tutorial for all levels of students for
mobility, strength and breath work creating tailored sequences that build progressively, focusing on
personal development, general health and well being.
