Hands on Introduction to Permaculture Class

Join us on May 11 for a hands on and family friendly Introduction to Permaculture class! Derived from indigenous practices of working with and cultivating the land, permaculture is used to encourage people to engage in People Care, Earth Care, and Fair Share, which are also the three main principles of permaculture. In learning about permaculture we will cover the topic of community relationships and relate this back to our gardens by discussing companion plants and their benefits for tree guilds. We will then convene with the tree guilds at this community garden, offering our energy to their care by doing light maintenance and adding some companion plants to the guilds.

You won't want to miss this educational workday which will be full of family-friendly information and garden work opportunities!

Safety recommendations:

• Volunteers are encouraged to wear close toed shoes, sunscreen, hats, and bring water to hydrate during the event.
• If you have gardening gloves please wear those, and note we will have extras to share.
