Handmade Holiday Cards: A Gelli Plate Experience with Maryika Welter

Get ready to unleash your creativity this holiday season! In this 3-hour workshop, you’ll discover the magic of Gelli Plate printing to create unique and personalized Christmas cards. Each print is a delightful surprise, allowing you to craft beautiful, one-of-a-kind cards for your loved ones.

You’ll receive step-by-step guidance and demonstrations to help you master the monoprinting technique in a fun and encouraging environment. Our tutor will cover the care of your Gelli plate and brayer (roller), and you’ll take home your very own brayer and roller at the end of the session!

We’ll explore various surfaces and materials to enhance your printing experience. Acrylic Paints and Paper will be provided, but feel free to bring your own special materials if you prefer. As we create, you’ll have the chance to let your imagination run wild, celebrating the spontaneity of the process.

By the end of the workshop, you’ll leave with your completed works and the tools to continue your printing journey at home. Join us to make this holiday season extra special with handmade cards that reflect your artistic flair!

Materials are included in this workshop.

We request you bring an assortment of items to print with - leaves, fabric, cutouts, etc. These will get paint on them so please keep that in mind when making your selection.

You go home with the knowledge and basic tools to complete any unfinished work and/or begin a project with your new found skills.

"Making art is a lifelong apprenticeship; fulfilling, fun and frustrating.

Experimenting and playing with different mediums has always been part of my Arts practice. From painting, print making, acrylics, fabrics, oils, water colour, pastels, mixed media, wall murals, commissions to 3 dimensional assemblages.

Curiosity drives me to discover the joy and excitement of the creative process, mostly through painting. Often the result is something unexpected or something that may be familiar or impressionistic. Colour, texture, collage and design are all part of the exploration process.

Workshop facilitating is how I get to share information. With a hands-on approach through demonstrating techniques, product knowledge and practical application we can all develop and build skills that support our own individual style. There is so much joy in seeing participants grow and develop their very own visual language.

My Arts background experience and involvements comes from formal education in art colleges, residencies, workshops, judging art shows, community involvement on committees, curator, volunteer work, mental health industry, commercial ventures, cooperatives, public speaking and through exhibiting nationally and internationally. "

MyArt Studio Booking & Cancellation Policy

Location

The entrance to the classroom is found at 16 Duggan Street, Toowoomba CBD. The classroom will be opened 15 minutes prior to commencement of the class. Tea and coffee facilities are provided, and students have access to the kitchenette and toilet facilities.

Parking

No parking facilities are provided. Street parking in the Toowoomba CBD is at your own expense. Council car parks with 3+ hour zones are available on Annand Street, Water Street, or Station Street. We advise always reading the parking signage for the day and time period you require to avoid fines. Classes with outdoor activities are attended at your own risk.

Materials

Materials are not included in the ticket price. Students are responsible for their own art materials unless otherwise stated. A materials list will be provided by Murray's Art and Framing listing each item that is required for the workshop. It is expected by the tutor that each student will arrive prepared with the required materials. If you have any questions about your materials list, please get in touch with the team at Murray’s Art & Framing.

Fees

Ticket prices ensure that we can provide professional art tutors. Each ticket covers the total duration of the event for one student to attend. Fees do not include art materials. Please book into a workshop at least one month prior to its commencement if possible. This will secure your spot in the class and allow us to confirm tutor bookings. If there are insufficient tickets booked, workshops may be cancelled.

Cancellation of enrolment by you

If you choose to withdraw from a course or workshop up to one month before its commencement, you will be charged a $25 administration fee. The remainder (minus Eventbrite fees) will be refunded. If you choose to withdraw from a course or workshop within 1 month of its commencement, you will be charged a $25 administration fee and the remainder (minus Eventbrite fees) will only be refunded if the position can be filled.

Missed Classes

Once a workshop has commenced there are no refunds. MyArt Studio cannot accept responsibility for changes to students' personal circumstances that prevent attendance. Classes missed are the student’s responsibility and are non-refundable. Students are not entitled to a discount or ‘make-up’ class if they miss a class for any course, they are enrolled in.

Cancellations of workshops by us

In the event of a class being cancelled due to insufficient enrolments, a full refund will be given.
