Local artist, Kathleen Nartuhi is hosting an Introduction to Handmade Books workshop at monca on Saturday, November 22nd from 1-3PM.There is a book hiding in every piece of paper!
During the workshop you will learn the basics of how to construct two folded books in the X book and accordion book styles. The X book is great for hiding a surprise or a secret; the accordion book has more pages excellent for longer texts and/or images.
Detailed handouts with instructions along with guidance from Kathleen makes this workshop great for beginners. Come with ideas, questions, and openness to explore! These books make excellent gifts for family and friends.
All supplies are included in the $35 ticket price.
Tickets are available online or at the door. Participants are welcome to bring their own unique supplies like photos, drawings, and poems to include in the books.
Kathleen Nartuhi is an experienced artist with a background in printmaking, creating artist books, and teaching craft workshops. In addition to participating in international artist book exchanges with fellow artists, her books have been in exhibitions in France, South Africa, and Australia, and are in numerous private collections.
