Handgun 101 - Beginner's Basic Defensive Handgun
Join us for an exciting in-person event at the APHF Shooting Center! If you've never held or shot a gun before (or if it's been a long time), THIS is the class for you and is geared toward both male and female new shooters. From understanding firearm safety to mastering proper grip and stance, we've got you covered. Discover the fundamentals of shooting and gain confidence in handling a handgun. The class builds a comfort level by teaching you about the mechanics of a firearm, how it works, how to handle it safely, how to load and unload it, how to manipulate the cylinder on a revolver or the slide on a semi-automatic. The class discusses ammunition and the basics of defending yourself. Don't miss out on this opportunity to become a more proficient shooter. REQUIREMENTS:
Notebook and pen if you wish to take notes.
If you OWN a gun, please bring it (unloaded and encased).
- Crew neck T-shirt or button-up polo shirt
- Closed toe shoes
- Approximately 50 rounds
If you do not have ammo, it can be purchased at the range (9mm or .22 LR).

INSTRUCTORS:
Glenda Schweer - USCCA Certified Firearms Instructor in Concealed Carry, Home Defense and other disciplines. She is also an NRA Chief Range Safety Officer and Rifle Instructor, a NACOP-endorsed instructor and the weekend Assistant Rangemaster at The Shooting Center. Glenda serves as facilitator for the ladies-only defensive shooting group Sisters-in-Arms. She teaches numerous courses at The American Police Hall of Fame, including FL Concealed Carry, Defensive Pistol, Concealed Carry & Home Defense, Children’s Firearms & Safety, Women’s Handgun & Self Defense Fundamentals, and Handgun 101. She is an avid student as well as an avid instructor and continues to advance her education in order to constantly update and enhance the content she offers her students.
Michelle Parker - USCCA Certified Firearms Instructor in Concealed Carry, Home Defense and other disciplines. She is also a NRA credentialed Range Safety Officer, Certified Concealed Carry, Rifle Instructor, and Basic Pistol. Michelle is a NACOP Endorsed instructor who started shooting six years ago and hasn't stopped training and growing ever since. One of her favorite range activities is working with new shooters. As often as she can, she enjoys competitive shooting in Action Steel and 3-Gun matches.
