The world can feel like an unsafe place sometimes, and peace of mind can be found in many ways. No matter what we as humans put our faith in, security is often deeply connected to symbols/symbolism. Be it religious symbolism, the symbols of agencies and services, or symbols of brands we trust, these images are more powerful than many of us realize. This is why sigil work can be so empowering. In this class we will explore what sigils are and how we can use them to protect us in this unpredictable world. We will look at a brief history of sigils and symbolism to gain an understanding of the power they hold.
Instructor Katie Cahill will then guide you through the methods she uses to create her own sigils.
We will discuss how handcrafting these symbols with intention serves to boost their protective power.
You will learn how to choose colors for your sigil based on the properties each color is associated with, and how to further enhance the power we give our newly designed sigils through the use of herbs and crystals.
This is not an embroidery class, though you will learn basic stitches and receive instruction in hand embroidery methods, you will be encouraged to let go of your visions of “perfection” and embrace the intention of the work you do.
Each attendee will leave this class with a finished protection sigil to hang where you see fit (or the material to complete it at home if you need more time).
All supplies will be provided.
You must be 18+ to attend.
Class is limited to 10 spaces. Reserve your space today by paying the $50 fee to @Ammo32 on Venmo with the Sigil in the notes. Or you can register in person at FoundlingArts Revival Thursday - Saturday from noon to 5pm at 3518 SW Multnomah Blvd, inside The Multnomah French Quarter.
