HAND BOOKBINDING ILevel I: Participants will take home a blank book they create in class, using the methods that were employed from about the first century through the mid 19th century. They will hand-sew the book sections (called signatures); secure the hard covers; add a leather or cloth spine, and decorative paper, to the covers; and lay down the endpapers. Participants will also be provided step-by-step written instructions they can take home.
All materials are included, and tools will be provided.
Cost per Person: $90/Adult (Age 14 and Up)
Class size is currently limited to 4 people until further notice as a COVID-19 precaution. Participants must be over the age of 14. Participants under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
Length of Class: Typical class lasts about 5-6 hrs
Lunch: We invite participants to bring a lunch to eat during the workshop. We have a refrigerator available if needed.

COVID-19 Precautions:
-Workshop capacity has been reduced to 4 participants to allow for social distancing
-Face masks required throughout workshop
-Railings, door knobs, light switches, restrooms and other high-touch areas are cleaned and disinfected frequently.
-An ultraviolet light is installed in the Bindery's HVAC duct system
-Participants are provided with a individual set of disinfected tools to use throughout workshop to eliminate sharing
-Hand sanitizer is provided
-Staff and participants much submit a health questionnaire prior to arriving to the workshop. Temperatures are checked at check-in.
