Offering a new look at one of Shakespeare's greatest tragedies, HAMLET & OPHELIA emphasizes the doomed romance at the center of the famous Danish prince's story. Danks incorporates segments of Shakespeare's other plays to fabricate entire scenes that reimagine the story of Hamlet and bring Ophelia's perspective to the forefront. Comprised of text from over twenty of Shakespeare's works, this script gives Ophelia the words to say what she never could before.
The reading will feature Rebekah Farr as Hamlet and Grace Berendt as Ophelia, as well as Susie Duecker, Caroline Norton, Joe Picchetti, Adam Qutaishat, Thomas Sebald, and Matthew Torkilsen. Adapter Maya Danks will direct, and Kayla Bingen will stage manage; Theatre Nervosa operator A.J. Magoon will act as co-producer.
