Join us this October half term, for an autumnal walk around the 350 acre nature reserve, with a spooky twist courtesy of our students and participants. Explore the campus and meet our rescued animals, enjoy a ghoulish treat in our pop up café, Faith's Kitchen, or take a stroll through the gardens, to witness the development and progress for our kitchen garden and plant nursery. There will be a pumpkin trail in the grounds, practice your wand making skills or indulge in the woodland crafts with our creative team. If you are just batty about conservation then explore the different habitats on site and see if you can spot any of our resident wildlife. If they are hiding during your visit, then you can follow our AWE trail, produced by the Bournemouth University team, using QR codes to capture footage and sounds when the staff have all gone home.
In September 2022, this unique site became home to Livability Millie College, catering for students aged 16+ with a wide range of special educational needs. The curriculum has been aligned to the areas of enterprise we run on site, including animal care, horticulture, conservation, catering and retail. We are slowly opening up the site to the local community, and would love your support to build an audience that will enable our students, to gain life and work based skills. As we develop the site further, we will need local support and vital funds that ensure we can create opportunities for employment, sustainable enterprise activities and volunteering.
We look forward to welcoming you to the site and would like to advise on the following points:
Well behaved dogs are welcome, if kept on leads at all times and cleaned up after.
The pop up café will have a limited menu of cakes, hot & cold drinks and some light bites.
You are welcome to bring a picnic to site but we ask that you do not take up space in the café area.
All college buildings will be closed to the public with only indoor access to the Farmhouse and Faith House for toilets and the café/shop space.
Bins are provided on site but we encourage you to take rubbish home with you, if possible.
The site has accessible pathways in most spaces on site however, it can become wet under foot and walkways are uneven in some places so please wear appropriate footwear.
We reserve the right to close areas in inclement weather, please abide by any site safety signage and avoid dangerous areas, such as deep water.
We can accept card and cash payments on the day for any on site purchases.
All tickets must be booked in advance, we operate a no refund policy as all funds go towards site upkeep and repair.
There is a single track for access in and out of the site, please acknowledge other road users by using the passing places and take care where pedestrians may be walking.
If you are unable to attend on the day then please contact us and we can release the tickets for other visitors.
Activities will be available for a limited number on a first come, first served basis.
Photography of the event may take place on site for marketing purposes, if you do not wish to have your image used then please inform a member of staff.
