The Haunted Hike: Do You Dare?Something is stirring in the woods of Lowell Park, and we invite you to come and find out what it is! This Halloween season, the veil between our world and the shadowy one of nocturnal creatures grows thin.
The Ruth Edwards Nature Center invites you to brave the darkness and discover the secrets of the night during our Spooky Haunted Hike on Friday, October 24th!
Join us right after sundown for a thrilling journey into the unknown. Our guides will lead you through the rustling leaves and creaking trees, teaching you all about the incredible world of Nocturnal Nature, from the silent flutter of an owl's wing to the hoot of a great horned owl.
This adventure is for all ages, but the level of fright is up to you! We have three distinct treks for you to choose from, led by our expert team:
• The Spooky Stroll: Recreation Coordinator Sidney Bomkamp will lead a family-friendly group on the paved trails. Perfect for strollers and those with walking restrictions, this is a gentle, not-so-frightful introduction to the night.
• The Whispering Woods: Director Ana Smith is leading a group that's in-between—we'll venture off the path and into the deeper forest, but stay on a manageable route. Listen closely for the whispers of the woods!
• The Banshee's Trail: Recreation Coordinator Ryan Jandrey is taking on the bravest of the brave! This group will journey to the coldest part of the Nature Preserve, where only the most courageous souls dare to go.
This is a limited-space event, so waivers and registration are required to claim your spot on the trail. Flashlights will be available, but we highly recommend bringing your own to help us light the way.
Meet at the Nature Center to begin your spooky, learning adventure!
