I’m excited to announce our next Dungeon Bowl tournament, this time Halloween themed! The tournament will take place at Games Workshop Halifax on the 1st of November. Entry fees are $20, but the entry fee will be waived if you show up in costume.
Team Building
Each team must be built using the official Dungeon Bowl College team structures (https://www.dadidimerda.it/colleges.php).
Each team has a 1.2 million gold pieces draft budget to build their team. Players must include 11 players in their roster before buying any inducements. Only inducements included in the official dungeon bowl rulebook may be purchased.
Each team has 30 SPP to spend on skills. Primary skills start at 6 SPP and secondary skills at 12 SPP. Skill stacking is permitted, but the price of additional skills will increase as described in the official rulebook.
Teams may only choose to hire a single star player from the list below, star players cost 6 SPP in addition to their hiring fee.
Game Format
Each game will use predetermined Dungeon Bowl maps that will be provided at the tournament. Each map will contain 6 portals and 6 chests, 1 of which will contain a chainsaw, 2 of which will contain bombs and the other 3 will contain balls. The games will follow “best of three” scoring, the player who scores 2 touchdowns wins but the match will continue until either all 3 balls are scored or time runs out. If after 1 hour not all of the balls have been discovered, the next chest to be opened will automatically contain a ball until all of the balls have been discovered, after this time all remaining chests will be considered to automatically contain bombs and will explode when opened. After 90 minutes if both teams are tied the game will enter “sudden death” and the next player to score a touchdown will win. If after 2 hours both teams are still tied the game will be considered a draw, otherwise the player with the highest score wins.
In terms of player ranking, your tournament score will be a total of the following:
3 Points for a win
1 Point for a draw
0 Points for a defeat
Tie breakers will be decided by the number of touchdowns, followed by number of casualties.
Prizes will be awarded to the first place winner, runner up, most casualties, and best costume, as well as some additional secret prizes to be revealed at the tournament.
Special Rules:
Infested Dungeon
Each dungeon will contain a Monster Room.
This room contains a random player from the Necromantic Horror Team, who will fiercely defend its territory. The Player is set up after both teams, and always begins the game on the square containing the dog house.
THE BEAST UNLEASHED: If there are any players within the Monster Room at the end of any team turn, roll a D6. On a 1, the Player remains stationary for the time being. On a 2+, it will Blitz the closest standing player within the lair by the shortest possible route (if there are two or more players an equal distance away, then randomly determine which the Player will Blitz). If the Player moves into a square in which the ball is placed, the ball will bounce as described on page 11 of the Dungeon Bowl Rulebook. If the Player moves over a square containing a Portal, the Player treats it as a normal square and will not be teleported.
If the Player selects the result of the block dice, it will always choose the result in the following order: POW!, Stumble, Push Back, Both Down and, lastly, Player Down!. If the Player pushes a player as a result of the block dice, it will always push that player directly towards the closest entrance to the Monster Room. If there are two or more entrances an equal distance away, randomise which of those entrances it will push them towards. Once the Player has completed its Blitz action, remove it from the board and place it back on the tile containing the dog house. Should the Player become Knocked Down, remove it from the board and return it to the square containing the dog house. If the Player cannot be placed on the dog house, place it in the closest unoccupied square - if there is more than one eligible square, randomise which the Player will be placed into.
Party Favours
One chest per dungeon will contain a chainsaw. Any player that opens that chest will automatically add the Chainsaw trait to their Skills.
Monster Mash
At the end of the tournament, the top 4 players will be invited to play in the Monster Mash, one final 4 player game of Dungeon Bowl. The players will not be allowed to play with their regular teams, instead each player will be given a custom team made from 4 players of the Necromantic Horror team. The dungeon will contain the regular 6 portals and 6 chests, but this time with only one 1 ball, 4 bombs, and 1 chainsaw. The player who wins this game will get to take home the Necromantic Horror team.
College Rising Stars
The following Star Players are the only Star Players that can be included in your roster. You must hire 11 players before inducing one of these stars.
Any star player rules or abilities that trigger “once per half” or “once per drive” now trigger “once per game”
