About this Event
"Happiness and suffering are feelings – parts of our mind – and so their main causes are not to be found outside the mind. If we really want to be truly happy and free from suffering we must improve our understanding of the mind."
– Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche
We often say, "My mind, my mind," but if someone were to ask us, "What is your mind?" we would likely find it quite difficult to answer. Since happiness and suffering are states of mind, if we are to find the happiness we seek, an understanding of our mind is essential.
During this brief course we will explore Buddhist insights into the nature, function and power of the mind, and gain practical meditative experience on the conventional nature of the mind. As we learn to navigate the intricacies of our mind, we'll gain the tools to foster lasting peace and happiness amidst life's challenges.
Topics covered will include:
What is the mind?
- How to meditate on the mind itself and the insights this practice offers
- How the way things appear depends upon our mind
- How our own mental attitude determines whether a situation is good or bad
- How to cultivate positive and constructive ways of thinking
This course will include:
- Guided Meditations: Learn calming and transformative meditations that help subdue mental agitation and cultivate inner clarity and strength
- Practical Teachings: Learn accessible advice that helps us to maintain a peaceful mind and a positive outlook amidst the challenges of modern daily life
- Question & Answer: Have your questions answered to ensure that you walk away from the course knowing how to apply what you've learnt with confidence
Everyone is welcome and no prior experience is necessary.
