The Halalisa Singers present a joyous, powerful
and timely celebration of freedom showcasing
Kyle Pederson’s inspirational choral suite “A
Vision Unfolding.” Centering on themes of justice,
community, and inclusion with texts by poets
Shanelle Gabriel, Walt Whitman, and a soaring
setting of Langston Hughes’ iconic “I Dream a World.”
The chorus is accompanied by piano, trumpet,
violin, and percussion spanning contemporary,
gospel and blues styles. Also featured are the
exuberant spirituals “I’m Gonna Sing” and “On My
Way,” the rousing rhythms and body percussion of
“Libertatum,” the international folk song “Lao Rahal
Soti,” the lush vocal harmonies and stirring message
of “One Million Voices,” and the eloquent calls to
action of “Lead With Love” and “Say Her Name.” It’s a
musical journey that will move, excite, and inspire!
