Join us for the premiere of Our Hair Feels Like Flower Petals on Saturday, June 19th at the Movement Lab, Home of T. Lang Dance! There will be three performances throughout the day: 2:30PM, 5:00PM, and the final show at 7:30PM that will follow with a talk back from choreographer, Jessica Bertram and performing artists, Aryanna Allen, Chryssy Luu, Danielle Swatzie, and Jada Willis.
There will be 25 tickets available per show so please get yours ASAP! Masks will be required and temperature will be checked upon arrival.
There is free parking behind the Movement Lab and street parking.
Our Hair Feels Like Flower Petals is a contemporary dance performance that investigates the resilience and healing process of four Black women during this trying climate in America. Originally developed during the Dance Canvas 2020 Choreographic Residency at the Atlanta Contemporary, Our Hair Feels Like Flower Petals researches how Black women move forward, how they rebuild the communities in which they occupy, and how they heal themselves mentally, physically, spiritually, and emotionally.
This evening length work is supported by grassroots organization, Idea Capital. Additional sponsorship has been provided by major donors, Sharon Bertram, Jessie Adams, Bim and Pearl Bertram.
