After 30 years of touring with the acclaimed Celtic rock group, Downie knows how to entertain — delivering a fan-focused experience that balances innovation with tradition and has made his music a staple of performing arts centers and festivals across North America.
What began as a solo project evolved into a full-band collaboration at Sleeping Dog Studios with producer Trevor Lewington. Joined by Tom Barraco (drums, found percussion), and Emily Yarascavitch (fiddle, step-dancing), Haggis X-1 showcases Downie’s signature piping, vocals, songwriting, and humor, brought to life by a powerhouse lineup of top-tier musicians.
The band’s debut album also features Rob Barraco — renowned for his work with Dark Star Orchestra, Phil Lesh & Friends, and The Dead — on piano and Hammond B3, completing a dynamic and modern Celtic-rock sound ready to hit the stage.
