Hacking Pro Bono: Innovating Legal Help with AI
📅 Saturday, April 12, 2025 | 📍 Vanderbilt Law School
🚨 The Justice Gap by the Numbers:
- 260 million legal problems arise each year in the U.S.
- Over 50% go unresolved.
- For low-income individuals, only 8% receive legal assistance.
- Even if all 1.3 million lawyers dedicated 100 pro bono hours per year, it would only provide 30 minutes of help per legal problem.
We need new solutions. Traditional pro bono alone can’t bridge this gap—but technology can help scale legal aid in ways we’ve never seen before.
The Challenge: How Can AI Supercharge Pro Bono? ⚡
We’re bringing together legal professionals, tech innovators, and social justice advocates to tackle a critical question:
How can generative AI and other technologies expand the reach and impact of pro bono legal services?
