Join our Medical affairs hackathon, where your data-intensive skills can speed up the fight against disease with a focus on Psoriasis (PSO) and Psoriatic Arthritis (PsA). Here's the deal: It takes 20 long years to bring new treatments to those who need them. But with your help, we can change that.
What is this hackathon about?
Your mission? To uncover new insights that cut through the wait, bringing hope and healing faster. Envision being part of a team working tirelessly to help patients with PSO / PSA. While we can’t cure the disease yet, our efforts focus on easing the symptoms the patients suffer. Your energy and ideas have the potential to make a real difference to people who suffer from this condition.
The objective of this hackathon is to analyze current discussions within the scientific community regarding the treatment of psoriasis patients, extracting trends and insights to inform strategies aimed at improving patients' quality of life and care. Participants are encouraged to utilize any suitable tools to address the provided questions within the allocated time frame, while also presenting discussion points and suggesting future directions based on the work they have conducted as part of this exercise and their findings.

Which technical skills will you learn?
The students will have the opportunity to learn various skills, including how to work with unstructured data, preprocessing and postprocessing data that contains free-text and unstructured information, conduct exploratory data analysis to understand the type of data used in medical space, utilise various state-of-the-art natural language processing techniques, employ LLMs and other relevant tools and libraries.
After the coding session, we will be holding a networking session where you will have the opportunity to confront yourself with ex-Cambridge students and ask about their job experience while enjoying a drink and snacks.
This in-person event will be held at the Maxwell Centre in Cambridge UK.
