Please join us for "Raks & Rhythm" our Annual Spring Seminar and Concert on April 12-13, 2025. This year our featured artist is Mr. Özgen. Mr. Özgen is a professional Turkish style oriental dancer and instructor, has performed, taught, choreographed and directed for 18 years. His reputation as a performer and teacher has taken him across the world.
In Istanbul, he joined the cast of Night of the Sultans combining contemporary dance, ballet and oriental dance. Mr. Özgen taught for several years at the Tolgahan Dance School in Istanbul, and is now based in London, teaching and performing Turkish Oriental & Romani dance internationally.
Mr. Özgen was honored to have been recently awarded the Best Champion of Turkish Cypriot Culture 2017 by the Council of Turkish Cypriot Associations in Britain, at the recent Turkish Cypriot 2017 awards gala. He is currently touring with his musicals "Ashk (Love)" and "Tales of a Sleeping Man," and is committed to opening his non-profit organization to Support Art and Diversity in the UK. Mr. Özgen currently lives in the UK.

Saturday Concert: Raks & Rhythm! April 12. Door open at 7:30 pm, Concert begins at 8pm. Concert is held in the Hannah Community Center, Albert A. White Performing Arts Theator, at 819 Abbott Rd, East Lansing, Michigan, 48823. Tickets are $15 in advanced (excluding Eventbrite fees) and $20 at the door. You can also purchase tickets directly from your favorite Habibi Dancer!
Saturday and Sunday Workshops will be held Hannah Community Center, main gym, at 819 Abbott Rd, East Lansing, Michigan, 48823. No food or drink allowed in the gym other than water. Wear comfy clothes. Please wear a quiet hip scarf (no coins or bells please!) No props are required for any workshop. Vendor tables will be set up both days in the gym.
Saturday April 12 Workshops: Turkish Bellydance and Turkish Pop Style. From 10am to Noon, Mr. Özgen will teach a beautiful Turkish choreography, highlighted by his unique dramitic and sensual style. From 1:30 to 3:30, Mr. Özgen will teach a fun and cheeky choreography to a Turkish Pop song. Early bird tickets are $139 through March 21. Beginning March 22, ticket prices are $169 per person (excluding Eventbrite ticket fees).

Sunday April 13 Workshop: Turkish Romani Dance 1pm to 4pm.
Mr. Özgen will lead us through exploring 9/ 8 rhythm Romani Dance Technique & combos, and then teach a Romani dance choreography with its culture explanations
Tickets arre $99 through March 21 Tickets are $99 (excluding Eventbright ticket fees). Starting March 22, tickets are $129 (excluding Eventbright ticket fees). Please note that the Hannah Community Center doesn't open until Noon on Sundays.

Saturday and Sunday Workshop Combo Tickets: If you are going to sign up for the full weekend, early bird combo tickets are $210 through March 21 (excluding Eventbrite ticket fees)! There is no combo discount beginning March 22.
