To celebrate 60 years of Moroccan community presence in Belgium, AB is joining forces with asbsl HalfmOon, KVS, Muziekpublique, Darna and Cinemamed with the Habibi Connection project. Please note: this concert with Think of One, Laïla Amezian, B'net Chaabi en Kabareh Cheikhats will take place at KVS.
Habibi Connection closes the Chaabi Habibi festival, launched in 2019 by HalfmOon, the non-profit organisation of multi talented musician Laïla Amezian. Chaaba Habibi is dedicated to the musical heritage of chaabi and its practice by women from the Moroccan diaspora in Belgium. Chaabi (literally “popular”) music is the city-version of popular and traditional Moroccan songs with a message, performed at traditional festivals and dedicated to dance. The festival is above all a tribute to the Ghanayats and Shikhats, female musicians who have spoken out for freedom with strength and conviction.
Habibi Connection symbolizes the unbreakable bond that links all lovers of this art form, in which love is central.
We invite everyone to fully immerse themselves in this age-old musical form. Let yourself be carried away by the bewitching rhythms and melodies that blend ecstatic trance and poetic intensity.
