About this Event
The Goma Youth Group (GYG) consist of 9 young people aged 16-25 working with the Gallery of Modern Art (GoMA) to plan a series of events with the intention to use art to connect with communities. We want to make museums and galleries more relevant and inclusive of everyone.
If you want to talk, meet new people and get creative at the same time then come and hang out with the GYG virtually!
Our event is part of Refugee Festival Scotland (https://www.refugeefestivalscotland.co.uk/) and is for young people from refugee backgrounds to connect through sharing thoughts about a selection of artworks displayed in the Gallery of Modern Art, Glasgow. No previous knowledge is required – we believe that everyone has stories to tell and that every person’s individual thoughts about these artworks counts. We want to hear yours!
In this session you will also be able to respond to these artworks creatively through collage. We hope to showcase some of the work you produce in this workshop in an upcoming exhibition at the GoMA.
Join us on Saturday the 25th of June from 1.30pm-3pm. Our session will take place online via Microsoft Teams. We will send you a link closer to the time.
