👣 Organisers: Louise C & Michelle S 👣This will be a fabulous 3 night trip away to the Forest of Dean over the late August bank holiday weekend.
Saturday's walk is a 25 minute drive away. It will be 11 miles and 585m of ascent. The walk takes us through ancient woodland and we will explore caves, board a hand-pulled ferry and gain sweeping views of Symonds Yat.
Sunday's walk will start from our accommodation and is 11 miles and 712m of ascent. The walk crosses beautiful fields and villages; the climax is a rewarding view from the top of the iconic May Hill, where on a clear day you can see 12 counties.
For early arrivals there is the option for a short walk from our accommodation on Friday late afternoon.
On Monday there will be an option of a self guided 5 mile walk following the Sculpture Trail in the heart of the Forest of Dean. Alternative activities could include a trip to Go Ape in the forest, if people are interested in doing this.
The accommodation can sleep 34 but we will not be filling it as it will be too cramped - we will be capping numbers at 20 and it will cost £75 per person: https://www.oakraven.org/
You need to be a paid up member of the Ramblers to join in with this GYBO trip. Sorry but dogs are not permitted on weekends away.
