🥾 7 miles 🥾 Moderate 🥾 Leader: Matt N
Start the new year with a walk at Snainton. Leaving Snainton, the route gradually works its way up through farmland and woodland uphill through Cote Heads Farm and Moorsome Farm, before turning south and working our way back down into Snainton via Malton Cote. On the way we pass Wydale Hall, the remains of Anglo Saxon terracing and views over the Vale of Pickering. The walk is anticipated to take 3-4 hours.
🪧Village Hall, Barkers Lane, Snainton, YO12 9BG, ready to set off at 10.30am.
🅿️ Snainton Village Hall Car Park (free but donations gratefully accepted).Travelling from York this is the last right turn off on the right, opposite the CofE School, next to the playing fields. Travelling from Scarborough, it's the first left turn in Snainton. It’s not the biggest car park, so if that’s full I recommend parking on Lairs Lane which is the side street opposite the Village Hall. Parking on the main street, while legal, should be avoided as far as possible. It’s a busy road and parked cars quickly cause congestion even on a quiet day. Please car share if at all possible.
🚻 No public toilets in Snainton but there are toilets in the pub at the end of the walk.
🚌 X28 bus runs from Scarborough and Pickering every 2 hours.
🥪You will need to bring a packed lunch
🥾Boots/hiking shoes are recommended
🐶Dogs are welcome on the walk and in the pub but they will need to be on a lead for much of the walk with it being farmland.
🍺Option to meet for a drink at The Peacock pub afterwards.
⚠️ There is a steep descent near the end (the only real gradient of any length over the whole walk) so you may wish to bring walking poles.
Get Your Boots On is a friendly and sociable group for those in their 20s and 30s, and is part of the Ramblers
