About this Event

Guy Pratt has played bass with the biggest names in music of the last 40 years. From Pink Floyd, Madonna and David Bowie to The Smiths, Jimmy Page and Michael Jackson. Guy’s wit is the stuff of legend and has got him as many jobs as his musical abilities.

We are delighted that he has squeezed in a visit to Walthamstow Trades Hall before heading off on tour with Nick Mason's Saucerful of Secrets and we promise you a hugely entertaining and memorable evening.

I LOVED Guy's memoir My Bass and Other Animals a genuinely hilarious account of life with the gods of music. We'd lined up Guy for an event in 2020 and then, well you know the rest...

Happily for me and others Guy spent the pandemic fruitfully. His and Gary Kemp's fantastic Rockonteurs podcast is a massive hit, they know and speak with EVERYONE and if that's not enough Guy started posting the most ludicrously brilliant video's on You Tube; his Lockdown Licks telling great stories about the tracks he's had a hand in. They're simply astonishing.

Guy Pratt has been a crucial member of the rhythm section of megastars such as Pink Floyd, David Gilmour, Robert Palmer, Roxy Music, Bryan Ferry, Jimmy Page, David Coverdale, Womack & Womack, and The Smiths.

And when he’s not been parading his talents live on the stages of every stadium, concert hall and festival around the world, he has been a favourite studio bassist and accompanying singer for the biggest recording artists including Madonna, Michael Jackson, Iggy Pop,The Pretenders, Echo and The Bunnymen and McFly.

Guy is also a composer who has won a Grammy and been nominated for two Ivor Novello Awards – not bad for a bloke who just “hangs around with the band”!

I'm delighted that Guy will be in conversation with Pete Paphides so we're in safe hands. Pete you will know is the author of the wonderful memoir 'Broken Greek' and releases music of his favourite artists through the Needle Mythology imprint.
