MT KINABALU…Standing majestically at 4,095 Meters (13,435 feet), it is the highest mountain of Malaysia and is one of the most achievable peaks in the world at its height.
Ascending Mount Kinabalu requires no specialized mountain climbing skills, but it pays to be fit. The trail to the highest peak winds along the southern side of the mountain. It is an 8.5-kilometre (5.25 miles) trek to the top.
WHAT'S SPECIAL ABOUT MOUNT KINABALU?
Its specialty lies in its location at a renowned World Heritage Site – Kinabalu Park. Along the hike route, you will witness prominent changes in the types of plants and flowers as you make progress through the altitude. And this is not just because of the difference in temperature, but also due to the change in landscape and soil type.
The terrain stretches upward from lowland rain forest to montane forest, cloud forest and sub alpine meadow, before finally reaching a crown of bare granite. Only at Mount Kinabalu can you eat breakfast in a lowland rainforest, lunch in a cloud forest, and enjoy dinner in a subalpine meadow!

10 May 2025 (D)
1100 Flight to Kota Kinabalu Airport. (To arrive Kinabalu any time before 3pm this day. Refer to recommended flights below.
1500 Upon arrival at KK airport, depart to Kinabalu Park Headquarter.
1800 Permit registration and check in into Kinabalu Park Lodge (Free and easy for the rest of the day till dinner)
1930 Dinner will be served at local restaurant. Overnight.
11 May 2025 (B, L, D)
0700 Breakfast at Park Restaurant and collect your packed lunch.
0800 Proceed to the Park HQ for collection of climber ID TAG and mountain guide assignment.
0900 Start hike @ Timpohon Gate (4 – 6 hours hike), Arrive Panalaban Base Camp @ 3272m and check in to your accommodation.
1730 Buffet Dinner starts at Laban Rata Restaurant. Overnight.
12 May 2025 - Summit Day (S, B, L)
0130 Wake up for early supper and depart for continuation of journey towards the summit of Mount Kinabalu.
0530 Cut-off at Sayat-Sayat checkpoint
0700 Summit
0730 Descend back to Panalaban Base Camp for late breakfast and check out.
1000 Trek down to Timpohon Gate for transfer back to the Kinabalu Park Headquarter (est. arrival 1400hrs to 1500hrs).
1530 Lunch will be served at the Local Restaurant in Kinabalu Park area.
2100 Check-in Hotel at Kota Kinabalu city.
13 May 2025 - Back-to-SG Day
0800 Free and easy breakfast. Depart to SG (flight timing is up to individuals – based on how much time you want to spend in KK before returning to SG). Self-transfer to airport (except for main group, organizer will take care of the transport to KK airport)

INTERNATIONAL FLIGHT FOR 10 MAY 2025:
All hikers need to arrive Kota Kinabalu on 10 May 2025 latest by 1500hrs to be able to make it for the arranged transport which will take 2 – 3 hours’ drive thereafter to our Day 1 accommodation at Kinabalu Park. Anyone who arrives later will need to incur expense to hire private transfer to the Kinabalu Park.
So, these are the suggested flights for you to travel from Singapore to Kota Kinabalu on 10 May 2025. However, if you choose to go to Kinabalu a day earlier or much earlier, you can do so and meet us at the airport directly before 1500hrs on 10 May.

- 1 Night Panalaban Assorted Huts (Laban Rata Resthouse or similar) (Non-Heated Dormitory Bunkbed with shared bathroom & toilet)
NOTE ON MEALS ARRANGEMENT:
1) Dinner will be converted to packed dinner on Day 01 (Arrival Day) for any arrival to resort after 2100hrs.
2) Dinner will be converted to packed dinner on Day 02 (Panalaban Day) for any arrival to Panalaban after 1930hrs.
3) Lunch will be converted to a packed meal on Day 03 (Mt Kinabalu Descent) for climbers who arrive late and miss the local restaurant's opening hours.
IMPORTANT THINGS TO NOTE
1. Climbers who reach Timpohon Gate after 1630hrs on Day 3 will be imposed a fee of MYR15 per hour per guide and need to pay directly to mountain guide on the spot.
2. Tipping is like giving a hug. Although it’s never expected, it’s always very much appreciated.
3. Do take note that your passport will be required for verification during registration at the Kinabalu Park office. Please bring it along with you.
4. Laban Rata Resthouse does NOT provide boiled water for drinking/refill to climbers. Coffee & Tea will only be provided complimentary during Breakfast & Supper. However, mineral water, coffee, tea, and other hot drinks and Soft Drinks are still available for purchase at the Grocery Counter (Laban Rata Resthouse).
5. Pendant Hut provides filtered hot water for drinking/refill to climbers.
6. Check-out time for Laban Rata Resthouse is 1000hrs. Should you check out later than 1030hrs, a Late Check Out Fee of MYR100/hour applies, to be paid directly on the spot.
