About this Event
Gundlach-Bundschu specializes in producing Bordeaux reds and cool climate varietals on their historic property. And historic it is; founded in 1858, the winery is the oldest continuously family-owned property, and second oldest winery overall, in California. Once a major international producer with over 250,000 cases distributed world wide, GunBun suffered a devastating setback in the 1906 San Francisco earthquake and subsequent fire, losing their production facility and over a million gallons of wine.
These days, the winery (now certified organic), focuses on 'making small lots of ultra premium wines,' with only about 40,000 cases per year.
To guide us through this very special tasting, we'll be joined by Hernan Valverde, Director of Sales for the winery's East and Central Divisions.
