Panama City, FL — Gulf Coast Players presents, “Black Moses and Other Tales,” a storytelling showcase, which is written, produced, and performed by students of the GCSC Theatre Club. Stories include Black Moses by Teena S. Jaxon, a fictional story of Harriet Tubman being visited by a special messenger the night before the enforcement of the Fugitive Slave Act of 1850 to prepare her for the upcoming journey through the underground railroad, Halfway Home by Kaiden Ordoqui, an examination of the effects of PTSD in the life of a Veteran, and A Closer Look by Dawn Duvall - a haunting modern fable about a child whose parents remove her wings, forcing her to hide her true nature. The club’s faculty advisor, Professor Vincent Pelligrino is excited about the opportunity for students to create their own work: “It’s so important for students to create their own opportunities, whether it’s writing, producing, acting, or directing - being multifaceted as a theatre maker is vital to making it as a professional, and we are thrilled they get the opportunity to practice those skills here at Gulf Coast.”
