Guitar Workshop

4 weeks of instruction at 2 hours per workshop. Class size will be limited to 8 learners to ensure that they receive enough group as well as one on one instruction to succeed in playing simple 3 chord songs at the end of the workshop. The workshop will run 4 consecutive Sundays, and students must pay in advance to attend and spots are non refundable.

Students must supply their own guitar and commit at least 30 minutes per day to practice. Anything over and above will reap greater benefits!

About your instructor: I have played guitar just short of 60 years. I was a student of classical/flamenco styles for years which branches out to capability in many other genres. I was an instructor with Southern California Music Studios out of San Diego which booked “in home” instruction. I currently work with friends and family that are elevating their playing styles. The key to holding student interest is to provide them with techniques that will keep them motivated from day one, and provide simple melodic works right out of the gate. Lessons will ensure proper hand positioning, reading chord charts, and learning to read tablature which is far easier to grasp than actual music notation. Each week will introduce 6 to 8 concepts, which if practiced, will provide a great foundation and enable students to progress on their own at the conclusion of the workshop. Students will also learn the vocabulary necessary to fully understand various functions of the instrument. 2 chords will be introduced per session, as well as some simple finger picking techniques that will greatly enhance the sound produced. After week 4, students should have knowledge of 8 chords which should enable them to play many songs since most popular songs are built on just 3 chords.
