About this Event

Relaxed community cruise on 23 November 2025

Join us for an Islamic community harbour cruise that brings together people from diverse backgrounds to socialise, network and celebrate our shared community life and the heights we will go together.

Bring friends, enjoy the views, hear short messages from local leaders and represent your community. We're open to opportunities for collaboration with other organisations and initiatives.

About Salam Australia Awqaf (SAA)

We launched in 2016 after a few years delivering the "Refugee Support Group Visits" with food and support for Muslim inmates in the Villawood Immigration Detention Centre. SAA is led by Elias Attia who has been involved in Muslim community development for almost 20 years. The proceeds of this project will drive community development initiatives across Sydney.

SAA has not received government funding and does not intend to. We want to be an independent body that calls out racism and injustice wherever we find it. We're doing this by strengthening communities from the grassroots (professionals, volunteers, teachers, businesses, Sheikhs/Imams and everyone else) all the way up to our community leaders.

We're calling for Muslim communities across NSW to develop leadership capabilities and to be self-sufficient - fulfilling their Fard Kifaya. In doing so, we're avoiding community politics that has plagued Muslim community organisations for the last 20 years. We're ready to work with anyone and everyone for this purpose.

This event is supported by Attia Lawyers and organised by a group of lawyers and community volunteers. Contact our team email: [email protected]
