Join Northwoods Land Trust (NWLT) for this guided cross-country ski or snowshoe hike on Thursday, March 6 from 1:00 - 3:30 pm at Minocqua Winter Park. Participants will be snowshoeing 2 - 2.5 miles over uneven terrain or cross-county skiing at least 5 miles to explore the diversity of trails at this premier winter silent sports destination. The land surrounding the chalet area at Winter Park is home to a 3,195-acre conservation easement that was donated to NWLT in 2011. The easement ensures the park land and the core trail system will remain natural, without threats of future development. According to Troy Walters, NWLT Outreach Coordinator, “Exploring the trails by ski or snowshoe is a great way to observe some of the beautiful protected habitats in Oneida County. Winter Park is a great venue to get immersed in the outdoors and socialize as a community.”
This event is open to the public. Participants will need to purchase a trail pass upon arrival to Winter Park, and bring gear in good working order (snowshoes or classic cross-country ski set). Gear rentals are available at the Winter Park Ski Shop – see www.minocquawinterpark.org for rental rates.
Advanced registration is required by going online to www.northwoodslandtrust.org and clicking on "News & Events”, emailing Troy Walters at [email protected], or calling the office at (715) 479-2490.
