About this Event

A guided visualization - a space to dream, refresh & recharge by Melanie Gooi @melaniegooi.art

Sunday 30 Jan 2022

1.45 - 3pm (workshop starts at 2pm)

We live in a noisy and hyper-connected world where there is little space to be with ourselves and be still. Often our minds are busy with thoughts, endless to-do lists, social and family commitments.

This class aims to give participants a calming space to connect with their inner selves by paying attention to their bodies and inner longings.

In this guided visualization class, we will begin with a body relaxation exercise to allow our bodies to release the tensions that have accumulated during the day. With a relaxed body, a calm mind can arise. After which, we will go through a guided visualization exercise where we temporarily let go of constraints and allow ourselves to dream.

The guided meditation will take between 30-40 minutes.

This class is suitable for beginners.

All are welcome!

Due to safety distancing, this session is limited to 10 attendees.

About the Facilitator

Melanie Gooi is a minimalist abstract artist who believes the therapeutic power of art stems from its ability to bring awareness into one’s inner world. She regards that through awareness of oneself, one can find understanding and ease within themselves.

Melanie began her creative journey late in life honouring decades-long forgotten interest to be an artist. Since beginning her artistic practice, it has unexpectedly become a healing journey of self-discovery and brought on a new sense of aliveness in her.

Primarily self-taught, she is known for her minimalist, abstract approach to painting in which she manipulates layers of translucent paints on her materials. Continuously experimenting, Melanie’s work was featured in Unicorn Factory’s digital magazine, and she has participated in several group exhibitions; most recently, at The Fluxus House Gallery.

Her website is www.melaniegooi.com and her Instagram handle is @melaniegooi.art.com
