Strangford Lough Stories – All Aboard Aye!
Enjoy a unique Ulster-Scots lived experience with local guide and storyteller Brigid Watson on this lively and engaging walking tour of Portaferry. Journey through centuries of history exploring the Ulster-Scots influence from the 17th Century, including stories of Hugh Montgomery, Bishop Robert Echlin of Fife, and the Scottish families who shaped the area.
Visit the Echlin family vault at Templecranney graveyard and hear firsthand accounts of emigration voyages to America. Discover fascinating Scottish connections while enjoying the fresh sea air and beautiful surroundings of Strangford Lough.
The experience also includes an Ulster-Scots themed cookery demonstration, lunch, a wee dram of whiskey, and free Ulster-Scots gifts. Why not embrace the spirit of the day and wear your Ulster-Scots tartan!
