Guided Tour of The Italian GardenCome and enjoy a small group, guided history tour of The Italian Garden at Great Ambrook. Learn about the unique story of the garden, its creator and architect and see the restoration work in progress.
The garden was designed and built between 1909 and 1912 by local architect Thomas Lyon for the wealthy owner of Great Ambrook estate, Arthur Graham, but was lost to nature for decades from the 1960s and only rediscovered in the late 1980s.
The garden is actively under restoration and very much a work-in-progress with uncleared areas and uneven paths. Visitors must come equipped with sturdy walking shoes. There is limited parking at the garden so car sharing where possible is encouraged. Visits will be cancelled the day before if adverse weather is forecast.
The garden is a not-for-profit charitable interest company and all tour proceeds are reinvested in the garden. Any additional donations to our restoration project and replanting fund would be very welcome!
