It’s fall in Florida and we are excited to share the beauty of our local Wildlife Management Areas! Join us for a fun morning of hiking at nearby Perry Oldenburg WEA. Perry Oldenburg is comprised of a high-quality longleaf pine and wiregrass natural community where gopher tortoises, deer and turkey abound. It supports many different types of plants and animals and although we can’t guarantee sightings of everything, we are likely to see an abundance of birds and fall wildflowers! All trails are unpaved, over sometimes sandy and uneven terrain. The trail we'll be walking is about 1.5 miles in length. There are no restrooms or water fountains at Perry Oldenburg so please come prepared and bring water. Long pants and close-toed are recommended, along with bug spray and sunscreen or a hat.

There is no address for the Perry Oldenburg entrance, so to get there visitors must navigate to the intersection of Deer Run Road and Government Road off of US-41 in Brooksville, then there will be signs showing where to park. We will meet at this area shortly before 9 am, for the hike to begin promptly at 9.
