Guided Foraging Walk at St Paul's Walden Bury

Join experienced forager Jane Simmons (aka The Hitchin Forager) for a walk around the Grade 1 listed gardens of St Paul’s Walden Bury with a mini taster session.

During the walk, you will:

• learn how to forage safely and legally
• identify both edible and poisonous plants as they appear en route
• discuss recipe ideas and how to incorporate wild ingredients into your everyday cooking

Wild refreshments and tasters will be provided after the walk in a room adjacent to the courtyard.

Because of the duration and slow pace of the walk, this walk is more suited to adults. Keen teenagers accompanied by a parent or guardian would be welcome.

We will meet in the car park.LocationSt Paul's Walden Bury garden is Grade I listed and garden and not usually open to the public. It is a notable landscape garden, laid out in the early 18th Century, and the childhood home of Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother.

Please wear suitable footwear and clothing. This is a slow-paced gentle walk, but some of the paths in St Paul’s Walden Bury are steep and grassy.

If you have an access need, please contact us before you book. We may be able to tweak the route to make it navigable with a mobility scooter, for example.

Toilets are available at the start and end of the walk.

Important. Should heavy rain or storms be forecast, we may have to postpone the walk. We'll contact all ticket holders should this be the case.
