Let's come together to support Indigenous-led, nature-based solutions to climate change!
About this Event

Canada has a globally significant opportunity to lead the way in advancing climate solutions that are deeply rooted in Indigenous rights and traditional knowledge systems. Indigenous Peoples have long held the responsibility of caring for the land, and now more than ever, their leadership is essential in addressing the climate crisis. By prioritizing Indigenous-led projects and pathways for Land Back, Canada can set a precedent for sustainable and just climate action on a global scale.

This panel session will explore how Indigenous nations and organisations in Canada are championing nature-based climate solutions that are guided by their inherent responsibility to maintain a reciprocal relationship with the land. The discussion will also highlight the importance of jurisdictional approaches that recognize Indigenous governance and the necessity of creating long-term, secure financial pathways to support these efforts.

While Indigenous communities confront the immediate impacts of the climate crisis and continue to safeguard the majority of the world’s biodiversity, they are also advancing decolonized and regenerative conservation practices. These approaches are integral to creating climate solutions that respect the land and honour Indigenous sovereignty.

Join us to engage in these critical conversations and explore possibilities for scaling these solutions for use across global landscapes. The panel session will be followed by a reception and refreshments.
