About this Event
Come explore the unique winter landscape of Claireville Conservation Area on a guided hike with an experienced TRCA biologist. From wintering chickadees to weird winter ducks, join us to learn about the wildlife calling the Toronto waterfront home, and gain a new appreciation for the coldest and most beautiful of seasons.
The Winter Birding series is hosted by TRCA’s bander in charge and ornithologist Shane Abernethy. Shane has 7 years of ornithological experience and 3 years of banding at the Bird Research Station at TTP. He also produces the popular Feathered Friday series via TRCA Instagram.
This is a guided walk outside in nature. Please come prepared with warm clothing, comfortable walking shoes and a winter coat.
Bring your travel mugs, all participants can enjoy complimentary coffee or hot chocolate!
Coffee is generously provided by BirdsnBeans roastery in Etobicoke.
This event is intended for a general audience:

– Includes intermediate concepts
– Content intended for older youth and adults
Be Prepared
– Please dress appropriately for a cold, winter day. Don’t forget to bring a toque, scarf, and gloves!
– Flush washrooms are located at the main entrance of the park, so please plan accordingly.
– Bring a personal water bottle, travel mug and snacks, if needed.
Event Details
Date and Time: Saturday, February 7 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
Location: Field Study Centre at Claireville Conservation Area, 8180 Hwy 50, Brampton. Please use the Hwy 50 entrance and head through the gates to the parking lot beside the building.
Ticket Price: Tickets for this event are $15.00 + HST (plus Eventbrite fees).

*Conservation Pass members are eligible for a discounted rate using promo code “TRCACP”. Members may be requested to show proof of their membership upon arrival at the event.
Cancellation Policy: Cancellation requests received by TRCA more than 14 days before the start of the program will receive a 75% refund of the relevant program fees paid. Cancellation requests received by TRCA less than 14 days before the start of the program do not qualify for a refund. Minimum registration numbers are required for the program to operate. In the event TRCA must cancel the program due to low registration, inclement weather, or government order, a full refund will be issued.
